Dolica TX570 Review

When sorting our travel tripod guide for the tripod with the lowest price, Dolica’s TX570 takes the number one spot with a pricetag of only 77 US Dollars. For this relatively small amount of money you will get a lightweight and compact tripod that looks like a very good deal on first sight. But how is that low pricetag achieved and if there are any drawbacks – what are they? We will find out in our Dolica TX570 review!

About Dolica

Dolica is also a pretty young player on the photography gear market. I was founded in 2005 and has its headquarters in Los Angeles. They entered the market with a lineup of tripods that spot some awesome features and specifications for comparably very low prices. Their lineup grew to an impressive range of different tripod: from very inexpensive ones for casual photographers, to more expensive ones made out of carbon fiber. As Dolica is still growing I’m looking forward on what’s to come in the next years!

Dolica TX570 Review: Key Features

Dolica’s TX570 (also called the “TX570B104” or “TX570B150SL”) is Dolica’s tripod specifically targeted at travelers: with its very low weight of 2.5 lbs and compact size (12.5″) it ranks very well in our tripod comparison. With its four position leg locks made out of aluminum it provides a very solid base for camera equipment of up to 15 lbs – quite a sturdy tripod, especially for this price range. The center column has another lock and can be extended as well to achieve additional height. It comes with a ball head that worked well during the time I used it and a carrying bag. The one thing I have to complain about though (even for the great price): The leg material (aluminum) seems to be very thin. Although this does wonders at reducing the tripod’s weight, it does not feel as sturdy as with the other tripods I have tested. The same goes for the center column – it worked well during the time I’ve tested it so far but it will be interesting to see how it will perform in the long run. I will add my experiences to this Dolica TX570 review once I had it for a while!

Dolica's TX570 features a weight of only 2.50 lb, which is a great result compared to other travel tripods.A folded length of 12.50" is another great result when compared to other tripods. As the Dolica TX570 is a very inexpensive tripod there have to be some drawbacks: An operating height of 18" to 46" is a mediocre result when compared to more expensive tripods.A maximum load of 15.00 lb is a pretty good result for this pricetag and will support most cameras and lenses

To conclude my Dolica TX570 review I have to state two things. First, this tripod offers a great value for the very low price. If you’re just starting out this can be your first serious tripod or something great to take on the road. Second, it has its drawbacks of course – which means it will not be as durable and offer the same features like other, more expensive tripods. If you need something inexpensive that performs well on the road, Dolica’s TX570 series is a good buy.

Dolica’s TX570 has its drawbacks – but can be a good “first serious tripod” for ambitious travellers!
